A nature show was given the axe in order to broadcast King Charles' Coronation ceremony.

The Mirror reported that BBC faced budget restrictions and as a result had to give David Attenborough’s series Wild Isles the axe in order to broadcast big events like the King’s coronation and Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.

Michaela Strachan, the Tv presenter of Autumnwatch stated that she was "sad" over the show being axed but understood the logic behind it.

"It’s really sad," she said.

"But when you think that budgets are getting smaller, the choice was either to strip the budget over all the programmes, or to strip one of the programmes – and I think that was the best decision."

"It was the right decision. Disappointing but the right one," she surmised.
