Ray Stevenson was hospitalized during filming in Italy days before death

Ray Stevenson was not feeling well days before his death.

According to a new development in the wake of the actor’s untimely death last week, Stevenson was rushed to hospital from the set of his new movie Cassino in Ischia in Italy only a day before his death.

Speaking to People, sources revealed that he suddenly fell ill on the set and the production was immediately suspended as the actor was taken to a nearby hospital on Saturday.

Reps for Stevenson or the production company being the film didn’t comment.

According to Deadline, the film would’ve followed Stevenson’s character Nic Cassino as a once-popular action film star and his attempts to revive his career by creating the “first-ever Neo-Realist” action movie with “down-on-their-luck directors” in Italy.

However," the outlet added, "unresolved struggles with his family resurface and he is forced to reconcile all he left behind on his road to fame."

Cassino in Ischia director Frank Ciota posted an update on the film prior to the actor’s death via his Facebook, writing: "We are shooting this week in Ischia. Ray is killing it!"

Stevenson has been a staple in many blockbusters franchises, including MCU’s Thor and Star Wars.

He also appeared in an Oscar-nominated Tollywood film RRR last year.
