Headlining at Coachella 2023:

The K-pop stars proved that language and culture are indeed becoming more and more porous every day and breaking barriers amongst races and castes.

They were the first Asian and all-female group to headline the music festival.

Their lyrics are an intermix of Konglish - Korean and English and their humongous fan base ensures that their songs and performances are not met with any indifference.

Blinks, as the fans are called, are scattered over the globe and acquired several YouTube viewing records. On Saturday, the group broke records; nearly 90 minutes long on stage, they set the stage ablaze and showed how hard pop can make anyone swing and groove in the right way, no matter what language is being used.

Blackpink’s discography is energetic, bombastic, and bold. An adrenaline rush pervaded the crowd anywhere from bopping along to jumping up and down.

Prior to this, the group had a successful 2019 Coachella performance at the smaller Sahara tent and after four years of global fame, the hype for Blackpink was high, and this was exacerbated by a late start. The group took the stage 30 minutes after their scheduled 9 pm slot after several exciting teases.

There was an impressive drone light show above the main stage, lights, and house music as well as a whisper of “Blackpink” in the rhythm of their song Pink Venom.

The crowd was aroused with the sensory teases and the heart-racing expectation of their presence.

But as soon as the four finally took the stage, for opener Pink Venom the Blackpink agenda was ruling. Stable vocals, tight choreography, and outfits that followed a theme resounded by a delivery of confidence anthems. The group did not appear to miss a note. The set was unquestionably delivered.

It seems like an insurmountable feat to perform on the biggest stage at the biggest festival in the U.S. for a band that was niche and just beginning to be known by audiences in the U.S. up until a few years ago.

The fireworks that ended the set were brilliant and hence whenever Blackpink is in the area, one can expect a night of precise dances and smooth vocals with it.
