Tom Cruise has been estranged with his 16-year-old daughter Suri since his divorce from Katie Holmes
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise’s daughter is ringing in the next phase of her life.
Speaking to Daily Mail, a source revealed that the divorced pair’s 16-year-old daughter Suri “has sent some applications out” and is “leaning towards” studying fashion at Fordham University in New York City.
The source claimed: “Suri is applying to schools all over the place. [Katie] really does want her to stay in New York so they can be close to each other.”
“Katie takes great pride in her but is also extremely overprotective,” they shared.
As the teenager gears up to step into the next phase of her life, it is reported that the Mission Impossible star will not be taking any part in making decisions for her estranged daughter.
“Suri does not know her father anymore and she has not spent time with him in a decade,” the insider claimed. “She does not go to see his movies and he has no part in her life.”
Although the Top Gun actor “won't have a hand in helping Suri choose where she goes to school,” he very much will pay her duly college tuition costs as per his divorce agreement with Holmes.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes divorced in 2012 after five years of marriage, and although they never disclosed the reason behind their falling out, their differing religious beliefs were one of the reasons.
For the unversed, Cruise is a devout Scientologist – among the believers of the Scientology religion, claiming that “each human has a reactive mind that responds to life's traumas, clouding the analytic mind and keeping us from experiencing reality.”
Meanwhile, Holmes grew up Catholic.
