Air starring Ben Affleck got 100% on Rotten Tomatoes

Ben Affleck's movie Air was widely loved by critics

Ben Affleck's latest movie Air landed a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating after its SXSW premiere ahead of its cinematic release.

The rating means that every critic in the room that watched the movie, which is about how a rookie Michael Jordan and Nike struck a lucrative deal that went on to change the future of sports endorsements and pop culture, gave it a positive review.

The movie was praised for its strong performances by its cast, in particular Viola Davis, who essayed the role of Jordan’s mother Deloris as well as Alex Convery’s script that positively elevated what was initially touted to be a dry topic.

While the reviews on Air were largely positive, there were different ranges of likeness of the movie.

IndieWire gave the film an A+ and it described Air as "a slam dunk and ultimately one of the best sports movies ever made" and SlashFilm gave the movie a score of 8/10 as it called it an "atypical sports drama" and is "not really sure if this is going to make its way into the pantheon of great sports movies".

Air will release in cinemas on April 5.

Ben Affleck speaks on directing

Affleck not only essayed the role of Phil Knight, the Nike co-founder, he also directed the movie.

"My entire directing strategy is to find brilliant people and say, 'Just do it!'" Affleck said.

"I’m not kidding. I feel like I just got to bear witness to all this performance and energy and their own authorship that they brought."

"I’m lucky enough to be part of telling this story that has a resonance about value and worth and things far beyond what I can pass for authorship, into the deeper parts of this country and how we regard ourselves and one another," he continued.
