Oscars 2023: an intender gives insight

An unknown voter shares some fierce facts about Oscars 2023

An anonymous Academy voter provided insight into this year's contenders for the Best Picture Oscars award 2023.

The Triangle of Sorrow, Steven Speilberg's The Fabelmans, and Avatar: The Way of Water are among the leading contenders for the Oscars2023, according to an unidentified AMPAS voting member who spoke with IndieWire.

The voting participants said they were "absorbed from the beginning" when viewing Avatar, noting that this "didn't happen" with a number of other movies.

"A few plot points were cliché, but that didn't bother me," they stated. "It's beyond just a big spectacular science-fiction movie: putting it in that category minimises it."

The Academy members also hail Cameron for forming "a whole new world: an amazing achievement," adding they were "surprised" he didn't get nominated for Best Director. "It's my pick for Best Picture."

They liked the Pandora universe to The Fabelmans.

"It's beautifully made and written and covered a lot of territory. It captured the time and the people beautifully," they applauded.

Next, they told Triangle of Sadness, "intriguing and inventive." "It held my interest. All the actors were exceptional," they said.

On the perverse, they believed Everything Everywhere All At Once "was a mess" and difficult to pursue with "all the time changes."

They also thrashed that the ending of Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick was "the same old plan" as 1986 original.
