Chinese influencer fined for over $18k for eating great white shark

A Chinese influence landed in hot water after she filmed herself cooking and eating a great white shark.

The influencer, who goes by the name Tizi, showed off the shark during a live stream as she went on to cook and eat it.

The video has since been removed from the Chinese website.

Moreover, the officials have taken notice of the stunt and found Tizi for 125,000 yuan ($18,600).

Tizi’s behavior “violated the relevant provisions,” and she was given “an administrative punishment according to the law,” said the official WeChat account of the Sichuan Nanchong Market Supervision Administration.

However, netizens are not satisfied with the content creator only being fined and are demanding her arrest or a stronger punishment.

“This is only an administrative penalty. How can we talk about animal protection?” one user wrote on Weibo, China’s version of Twitter.

“Since you have done something wrong, you will suffer the consequences!” another user wailed on Douyin, the video platform.
