TSA no fly list leaked document was available to download virtually for everyone
The Transportation Security Administration's (TSA), No Fly List is a highly confidential document that a cybersecurity hacktivist appears to have exposed after finding it on an unprotected server, according to the Daily Dot.
The TSA is currently looking into how the data was released, which is not surprising.
Representative Dan Bishop, a Republican congressman who sits on the House Homeland Security Committee, said that members of Congress "will be coming for answers" as a result of the severe breach in cybersecurity protocols.
"The entire US no-fly list — with 1.5 million+ entries — was found on an unsecured server by a Swiss hacker," Bishop tweeted. "Besides the fact that the list is a civil liberties nightmare, how was this info so easily accessible?"
The timing of the occurrence of the incident was terrible. The TSA has seen chaos over the past few months. For instance, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had to cancel thousands of flights earlier this month due to a computer problem.
According to the outlet, a text file with the simple name NoFly.csvwas discovered on a site owned by US airline CommuteAir and was available for virtually anybody to find and download.
