M&Ms announced the spokescandies will be going on an indefinite pause

M&M has announced a major change in its brand approach.

The candy company revealed Monday that they are getting rid of their candy spokespeople or “spokecandies” on Twitter.

They also added that they will be replaced by the Saturday Night Live star Maya Rudolph.

"We have decided to take an indefinite pause from the spokescandies," they wrote in the statement.

"In their place, we are proud to introduce a spokesperson America can agree on: the beloved Maya Rudolph,” they added. “We are confident Ms. Rudolph will champion the power of fun to create a world where everyone feels they belong.”

Speaking to Today, Rudolph expressed her excitement at being recruited by the candy company, calling her new gig a “fun pairing.”

"I am a lifelong lover of the candy and I feel like it’s such an honor to be asked to be part of such a legendary brand’s campaign," she shared. "I think little Maya would be thrilled to get to work with M&M's."
