Greta Thunberg, the Swedish Climate activist, was convicted by German Police over the charges of protesting against illegal expansion of coal mines of western Germany which has become a crisis for country’s climate debate.

Nonetheless, 15,000 people have reported the coal mine expansion that will demolish the small village name Lützerath, to make way for the nearby Garzweiler coal mine.

With this, Thunberg, 20, who is the most protruding name among climate activists, has traveled to Germany this week to take part in the Lützerath protest. On Tuesday, the activist was protesting along the group of protesting villagers who lately detained by police trying to approach the mine reported by the German news agency dpa reported. She was released shortly after, according to Reuters.

Greta Thunberg than tweeted: "Climate strike week 230. We are currently in Lützerath, a German village threatened to be demolished for an expansion of a coal mine. People have been resisting for years. Join us here at 12 or a local protest tomorrow to demand that #LützerathBleibt !#ClimateStrike"
