Italian fim actress Gina Lollobridgida dies at 95

Gina Lollobrigida, the multi-hyphenate artist who ruled Hollywood in the 1950s and ’60s, has died aged 95.

The Italian-born star was reportedly battling a chronic illness, according to the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera.

Lollobrigida was born on July 4, 1927, in an Italian village to a carpenter.

She kicked off her career by entering a beauty contest to support her family, later starring in numerous films alongside renowned actors at the time, such as Humphrey Bogart, Burt Lancaster, Frank Sinatra, Rock Hudson, and Anthony Quinn.

Her timeless charisma and striking beauty landed her on the cover of Time Magazine as soon as her acting career started.

She also earned her first Golden Globe in 1961 for her performance in a rom-com.

By the early 70s, Lollobrigida had seemingly become tired of acting and took up photography and sculpture as professions.
