Jeremy Renner has spoken up for the first time since being airlifted to the hospital after a horrific incident where he was run over by a snowplow.

Taking to Instagram, the 51-year-old actor posted a selfie, where he was visibly bruised, and thanked his fans for their support and well wishes.

"Thank you all for your kind words," he wrote. "I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all." [sic]

This comes after the Hawkeye actor’s life was saved by a neighbouring doctor, who was left in "critical condition", as he was reportedly "helping a stranded motorist".

Following the accident the Avengers star underwent two surgeries and is currently in intensive care after suffering from "blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries".

As per reports, the machine was responsible for his injuries as it made him lose "a lot of blood".

"A neighbour, who's a doctor, was able to put a tourniquet on his leg until paramedics arrived," TM Z reported.

"We're told the area was treated like an active crime scene ... with police arriving at 8pm to impound the Snowcat, which Jeremy's previously posted video of himself using on his property after snowstorms. The issue, we're told, is the machine has extensive safety features, and should not have rolled over Jeremy."
