Tame One rapper dies at the age of 52

Tame One, a legendary underground rapper from New Jersey best known for his tenure with the Artifacts in the 1990s, has passed away. According to NJ.com, Tame One passed away on Sunday night. There is no known official cause of death has been disclosed yet. He was 52.

Redman's cousin Tame One is Rahem Brown, who was born in New Jersey. Before starting Artifacts in the late '80s with fellow New Jersey rapper El Da Sensei, Tame One got his start as a graffiti artist. Between A Rock And A Hard Place, the debut album by Artifacts was released in 1994 under Atlantic's Big Beat banner.

It is a perfect representation of that style of East Coast rap music, complete with neck-jerking boom-bap beats, brash hooks, and loads of personality. Although the album wasn't a great commercial hit, it did well on the charts and became a fan favourite. That's Them, released in 1997, was the last album produced by Artifacts before they disbanded.

In 2004, Leak Bros, a duo that included Weatherman Cage and Tame One, released the album Waterworld.
