Netflix faces backlash for putting LGBTQ tag on the series

Netflix has decided to remove the LGBTQ tag from Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

The serial killer limited serieswas categorized with the LGBTQ tag but after receiving backlash from the community Netflix decided to remove the tag.

According to Deadline, the streamer puts tags on every series and movie to make query search easier. The series and films tagged with LGBTQ showcase characters that give representation and identify with the often marginalised community.

The LGBTQ tag in the Dahmer series has made people from the community upset, especially the victims' families as Jeffrey Dahmer targeted men and boys, most of whom were from the LGBTQ community.

A drag performer B.J. Daniels told WISN, " I feel like it fetishizes this whole horrible moment in Milwaukee history. It shouldn’t be looked at that way, it just feels completely wrong."

He further said, "I know a lot of my friends, and a lot of people who lived through this period, will not be watching it. They will not be putting money into somebody’s pocket that is literally disturbing the graves of victims."

It isn't known when the tag was removed but as of now, Netflix has put 'Dark' and 'Ominous' as tags on the series.
