Hollywood legends Morgan Freeman and Kevin Costner are teaming up for a brand new project
Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman are going to produce a civil war spy drama for Paramount Global.
Big Dreams Entertainment’s founder, Leslie Greif is teaming up with the production houses represented by Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman to tell the true story of three women credited by General Ulysses S. Grant for helping the North win the civil war.
According to Deadline, the six-hour limited series will celebrate the unsung women, a Richmond Socialite and her daughter, a formerly enslaved African-American, and a courtesan who built the most successful spy ring and brought the 1800s civil war in favour of the North.
Kevin Costner is also revisiting the civil war era with the western picture Horizon,which he is currently shooting for. Costner also didDances With Wolves which was also set around the civil war era and won several Oscars.
The series titled,The Gray House is penned by Greif and Darrell Fetty and Oscar-nominated John Sayles.Oscar-nominated Roland Joffe will direct the drama.
Costner will serve as the executive producerwith Rod Lake and Howard Kaplan producing for Territory Pictures. Alex Kerr produces for Big Dreams Entertainment.
Talking about his project with Deadline, Costner said, "Having a passion for history, it’s always personally fulfilling to share richly layered stories about America’s unsung heroes. I’m delighted to join forces with my friends Leslie Greif and Morgan Freeman with whom I’ve had great success to produce this important, epic saga."
Chief Content Licensing Officer, Paramount Global, Dan Cohen also spoke with Deadline and said, "I’m thrilled to be able to partner with our friends and industry legends Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman."
The Gray House will reportedly start production in the spring of 2023. The release date hasn't been set in stone yet.
