Hollywood directors, writers & others pay remember 'Wolf Hall' author Hilary Mantel

Hollywood writers, director and others, paid tribute to the acclaimed writer Hilary Mantel who shook the world with her sad demise at the age of 70 on September 22.

Peter Kosminsky, the director of BBC's version of Mantel’s book Wolf Hall, told Variety: “A great light has gone out. The word ‘great’ is used very easily these days but nobody could dispute that it’s an appropriate epithet for Dame Hilary Mantel”

He concluded with “People recognized her for the massive intellect as she was. It’s hard to imagine a world without her.”

Colin Callender, producer of Wolf Hall also shared his thoughts: “Hilary was a brilliant iconoclast and captivating storyteller. With ‘Wolf Hall’ she reinvented the traditional historical novel”.

He ended his comment “We honored that in bringing her work to the screen. It was a great privilege to work with her.”

The novelist who wrote 12 books in her career, was also remembered by publishing company, Curtis Brown Group's owner Jonny Geller, who tweeted:

J.K. Rowling expressed his grief through his Tweet which said 'We’ve lost a genius' while Chocolat writer Joanne Harris posted “Such sad news, and such a loss to the literary world.”
