Johnny Depp’s family tree connection to royal family as per genealogist

Johnny Depp is likely related to late Queen Elizabeth II, claims genealogist

Although Johnny Depp was born in Kentucky, the genealogist Nick Barratt claimed that the actor has a distant relation to the late Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family.

According to Daily Express UK, Barratt appeared on BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are and remarked, “When I examined Johnny’s history, I discovered a connection to the royal family.”

He explained, “I’ve since established the family tree that demonstrates how. You have to go back more than 500 years to reach the point where his ancestors become royal.”

The historian reportedly discovered that the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s family tree descended from “Sir William Gascoigne and his wife Margaret Percy, who lived in 15th century Yorkshire”.

Barratt also mentioned that Depp’s surname was “originated with a French Huguenot immigrant called Pierre Dieppe, who settled in Virginia around 1700”.

It is also reported that the “long-reigning late Queen was the great (x17) granddaughter of the medieval monarch”. He added that this has been the only “unconfirmed branch of Depp’s family tree that linked him to Sir Gascoigne”.
