Ariana Grande and Jenette McCurdy starred together in Sam & Cat
Jennette McCurdy has candidly shared how her relationship with Ariana Grande went sour back in their Sam & Cat days.
In her new memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died, the 30-year-old wrote about her days as a child star and working alongside Grande which became troublesome for her as she claimed the One Last Time hitmaker was given preferential treatment by their Nickelodeon supervisors.
Dubbing the singer a "burgeoning pop star" McCurdy revealed that she was given a free hand in her acting days, as she frequently missed her filming of their show while McCurdy was expected to "angrily hold down the fort."
"I booked two features during iCarly that I had to turn down because the iCarly team wouldn't write me out of episodes to go shoot them," she explained, adding that Grande was allowed to miss filming, which producers fixed by locking her character in a box for the episode.
"Are you. Kidding me," McCurdy wrote
"So I have to turn down movies while Ariana's off whistle-toning at the Billboard Music Awards? F**k. This." McCurdy narrated her her anger and jealousy over Grande getting the chance to pursue her music career while she was back at the studio, acting with a box.
It eventually led McCurdy off the edge when Grande arrived to set "whistle-toning in with excitement because she had spent the previous evening playing charades at Tom Hank's house."
McCurdy called it as the moment she broke.
From that point on, "I didn't like her. I couldn't like her. Pop star success I could handle, but hanging out with Sheriff Woody, with Forrest F******g Gump? This has gone too far."
"So now every time she misses work, it feels like a personal attack," the iCarly alum continued.
"Every time something exciting happens to her, I feel like she robbed me of having that experience myself."
