Jennette McCurdy is not happy about her childhood and how her mother exploited it

Jennette McCurdy will write a memoirtitled I'm Glad My Mom Died

Jennette McCurdy was been talking openly about the life-long pain caused by her childhood popularity.

The iCarly alum planned to publish a memoir titled I'm Glad My Mom Died, discussed how her mother, Debra McCurdy, failed to adequately shield her from the entertainment business when she was a child.

"My whole childhood and adolescence were very exploited," she told The New York Times.

"It still gives my nervous system a reaction to say it. There were cases where people had the best intentions and maybe didn't know what they were doing. And also cases where they did — they knew exactly what they were doing."

McCurdy asserted that her mother did not step in when she was given wine by a figurehead she referred to as the Creator at the time.

In another case, the actress wanted her mother to intervene when she was pressed to be photographed in a bikini as a teenager.

Instead, Jennette told the Times that Debra would have said to her:

"Everyone wants what you have."
