Joey Chestnut wins Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest 2022

Joey Chestnut won the Mustard Belt over the Fourth of July holiday for the fifteenth time in his professional career. Chestnut consumed 63 hot dogs and buns to win the 2022 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.

James Webb took home third place with 41 hot dogs and buns, while Geoffrey Esper came in second with 471/2.

The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest also returned to its customary spot on the intersection of Surf and Stillwell avenues in Brooklyn for the first time since 2019.

Chestnut has won 15 of the previous 16 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contests dating back to 2007 and will defend his title in 2022.

Chestnut quickly built a lead of eight over competitors like Geoffrey Esper and James Webb after eating 29 hot dogs and buns in the first three minutes of the competition. Chestnut led by double digits for the whole final six minutes of the contest despite being sidelined by a leg tendon injury.
