Meghan Markle reads her book 'The Bench' to Harlem schoolchildren amid her trip to NYC with Prince Harry
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been on their trip to New York City and on Friday, the royal couple visited P.S. 123 Mahalia Jackson elementary school, where Meghan chatted some school kids about her book The Bench.
The duchess asked the children questions about her book and interacted with them. Markle’s visit to the school aimed to promote early literacy among children.
During her visit, she was spotted reading excerpts from her book and joined the children for some stories and conversations. Prince Harry was also seen communication with young children while walking around the school.
During the visit, the mother of two donned a red ensemble for the outing, and was seen hugging pupils by a mural at one point.
The trip to NYC is part of the first public events the couple has taken part in together since welcoming daughter Lilibet Diana on June 4.
The couple has also marked their visit to One World Observatory at the World Trade Center and the 9/11 Museum and memorial on Thursday.
