Actor Ben Platt opened up about his stirring romance with boyfriend Noah Galvin and explained why it took him a long time to realize his heart harbours feelings for his now-boyfriend.
Ben and Noah worked on the Tony-winning musical The Dear Evan Hanser and have been friends for nearly half a decade. On Tuesday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Ben revealed that it took him a long to realize that he thought of Noah as more than friends.
"We've been together a year-and-a-half now," Ben explained. "We were friends for five years and right before the pandemic, we finally decided to really give it a shot. We kind of skated around it for a long time."
The 27-year-old stated that he couldn’t be more grateful for the quarantine time because it allowed him and the other 27-year-old star to spend time together. According to Ben, things went from “zero to 60” amid the pandemic as the couple had the chance to "live together with my parents in our childhood home and seeing each other all the time."
"It ended up being a beautiful time," he added.
The host Kelly Clarkson pointed out that their story — from being friends to being lovers— could be a “movie in and of itself.” Ben does not fully agree because he thinks Noah would definitely see things differently.
"He won't say it was all of the sudden because I was pretty dumb about it," he joked. "I didn't see the light for a long time and then I realize, you know, that he was the guy."
Noah Galvin confirmed that the two were dating in May 2020 during an episode of the Little Known Facts with Ilana Levine podcast.
