Simon Cowell reflects on his 2020 accident: 'wouldn’t have been able to walk'

Simon Cowell was inches away from losing his ability to walk.

Speaking toTerri Seymour on Extra, Cowell touched on his ordeal from the e-bike accident in 2020.

“I knew I’d broken my back the minute I landed. It was really, really kind of sudden and it hurt," he began.

After being immediately rushed to the hospital and getting an X-ray, Cowell revealed that he was afraid of not being able to walk again.

“It could have been a lot worse,” he added. “When I saw the X-ray, I really nearly could have smashed my spine to pieces, so I literally wouldn’t have been able to walk,” he revealed.

At the hospital, Cowell thought “I’ve got to get back into the house because I can’t lie there.”

The X Factor boss eventually expressed his gratitude towards girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 43, and son Eric, 7. He could not have survived without their support.

“Both [Silverman] and Eric, they were like my support. I couldn’t have gotten through it without them, so we got closer,” he said.
